Walsall announced the signing of Salford City striker Rory Gaffney on loan over the weekend, as announced by their official club site.

He's been deemed as surplus to requirements at fellow League Two side Salford City, with Darrell Clarke quick to add him to the Saddlers' ranks. Clarke has previously worked with Gaffney at Bristol Rovers, with the 29-year-old playing a role in their promotion from League Two.

He scored 12 in 49 for Salford last season as they earned promotion from the National League, but has found his chances limited following the step up in level. He began his career in Ireland, making his name with Limerick before a move to Cambridge United.

The striker joins a Walsall team still looking to find their form, with just one win in their opening six matches. They were soundly beaten 3-1 by Grimsby Town this weekend and that's perhaps added to the negativity surrounding Gaffney's capture.

His arrival hasn't been warmly received on Twitter, with some Walsall fans seemingly running out of patience already, as you'll see below.
