Aston Villa are thought to be set to allow Scott Hogan to leave Villa Park, according to the Daily Mail.

The 26-year-old played under current Villa boss Dean Smith at Brentford, but hasn't been able to force a chance under his former boss and was completely left out of the side that beat Ipswich yesterday.

The report suggests that Sheffield United and Bristol City are both interested in his services, although it is unclear whether he'll be farmed out on loan or permanently.

If it is the latter, Villa will surely find it difficult to get back the reported £9m they paid the Bees for his services two years ago. His spell at Villa has been injury plagued and has seen a return of just 10 goals from 60 matches.

Hogan has played just seven times this season without a goal and as Dean Smith's revolution gets firmly underway, it seems the former Griffin Park golden boy is no longer one of the manager's key men.

Aston Villa fans have been on social media lamenting the transfer policy which took Hogan to Villa Park and expressing concern that they're looking to boost a promotion rival, as you can read below.
