Leeds United have got off to a strong start to this year's league campaign, with Marcelo Bielsa's side currently sat third in the Championship table after 14 games.

The Whites boast the best defensive record in the league so far, with Leeds conceding just eight league goals so far, which certainly makes for impressive reading.

One player that has been key to that statistic is goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, who has impressed in what is his first full season with the Whites, after signing from Real Madrid in January.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of their game against QPR, Liam Cooper issued high-praise for Casilla, and labelled his performance against Sheffield Wednesday as 'unbelievable'.

"You don't get on Real Madrid's books if you're not a great keeper. He's a confident lad but he's got no ego. His performance on Saturday was unbelievable. It's what you want from your keeper."

Casilla had his fair share of critics coming into this year's league campaign, after having a poor performance for the Whites in their defeat to Derby County in their Play-Off Semi-Final.

It was Cooper and Casilla's mixup that saw Derby score their first goal on the night, and it seemed to impact the whole performance of Leeds on the night as they missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

But the pair appear to have put that behind them this season, and will be focusing on winning a long-awaited promotion into the top-flight this term.

Leeds could return to the top of the Championship table this weekend if they beat QPR and other results go their way, as they look to keep the pressure on league-leaders West Brom.

The Verdict:

I've been really impressed by Casilla this season.

Leeds have the best defensive record in the Championship this term, and the Spaniard's form between the posts has been one of the main reasons why the Whites have started the season so tough to score against.

If he can keep his head and avoid the costly errors he made this season, then I can see him playing a starring role in Leeds' promotion bid this season under Marcelo Bielsa.
