Wigan Athletic will be delighted to have secured a high-profile addition on Wednesday morning.

The Latics have confirmed the signing of Charlie Wyke on a free transfer from Sunderland with the striker penning a three-year contract at the DW Stadium.

Signing the 28-year-old is a huge deal for Leam Richardson's side as Wigan look to mount a promotion push in League One this summer.

Wyke enjoyed an excellent season in the third tier last term after finding the back of the net on no less than 31 occasions for Lee Johnson's side, playing a key role in helping the Black Cats into the play-offs.

With his contract expiring at the end of the season there was plenty of interest in his services with Celtic, Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest, Cardiff City and Millwall all among the clubs credited with an interest.

However a move to Wigan has proven to be the most appealing option on the table and that's why the striker has committed his future to the Latics.

As you'd imagine the signing has attracted quite a reaction from the club's supporters. Here's what a selection of Wigan fans have had to say.
