Sheffield Wednesday’s treatment of Keiren Westwood this season has been strange, with supporters voicing their frustration at the club’s decision to have faith in Cameron Dawson over the 34-year-old.

Westwood hasn’t featured yet this season under Jos Luhukay, with the faith firmly in Dawson and Joe Wildsmith at Hillsborough.

There was a rare appearance for Westwood yesterday, though, with the goalkeeper confirming on social media that he’d featured for the club’s under-23s for 45 minutes.

However, this morning, joy was cut short, with Leeds United linked with a move for the goalkeeper in the Mirror (December 11, page 53).

In his time at Hillsborough, Westwood has made almost 150 league appearances for the Owls, helping them achieve back-to-back play-off appearances under Carlos Carvalhal.

As expected, the news linking Westwood with a move across Yorkshire hasn’t been greeted too well.
