Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings is well aware of the threat that Derby County pose, ahead of the Championship play-off final at Wembley this weekend.

Mings has been outstanding for Villa this season, since joining on loan from Bournemouth in January and is expecting a tough game against Derby in the final on Bank Holiday Monday.

Villa finished fifth in the Championship table this season, after a club-record ten-match winning run saw them cement their position in the play-off places and reached the final with a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over West Brom at the Hawthorns.

Derby secured their place in the top six with a win over West Brom on the final day of the season and produced one of the greatest comebacks in play-off history to beat Leeds United in the semi-finals.

Mings is expecting a tough game against the Rams at Wembley and is well aware of the threat that Frank Lampard's side pose.

“Anyone who goes to Leeds and scores four, you have to give them massive credit," Mings told Villa's official website.

“They have talented players and carry a threat. They have experienced lads who knows how to win too and a manager who is a winner.

“We know they’ll be high energy and have good quality but we feel we have the players to counter that and impose ourselves on them.”

The Verdict:

Mings is absolutely right. Villa will go into the game as favourites, but they cannot afford to underestimate their opponents.

Derby were outstanding against Leeds in the second leg of their semi-final and will go into the game full of confidence.

The Rams have some very talented attacking players, such as Mason Mount and Harry Wilson, and will cause Villa problems.
