Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings has admitted he is pleased with how he has performed since joining the club - although he would swap that for positive results!

The 25-year-old has played four times for Dean Smith's men since making the move from Bournemouth on loan but has yet to taste victory.

Villa have drawn twice and lost twice in that time, but Mings has been the one major positive with his displays.

And, he told the club's official site that whilst he's done well, the results are the main thing:

"I'm pleased with them, but I'd have swapped four average performances for four wins.

"Every player has a responsibility to give their all. That's all I'm doing. If everyone does their job then hopefully the team will benefit from that."

The poor run has seen Villa drop to nine points behind the top six at a crucial period in the season and they need results quickly to have any chance of catching the play-offs.

Smith's side are back in action this weekend when they make the short trip to take on Stoke City.

The Verdict

Mings has been a superb signing for Villa and really added a lot to the team with his physicality and leadership.

Unfortunately though, as he says, it hasn't brought results and Villa have a mountain to climb if they are to make the play-offs.

But, teams will be watching the defender who will surely be in-demand in the summer if he maintains these levels.
