Aston Villa retained their place inside the top six with a 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers at the weekend, which puts them in a strong position ahead of their late promotion charge.

Both Tyrone Mings and Tammy Abraham scored the crucial goals to keep Dean Smith's side in contention to finish inside the play-off positions.

Villa are the form side in the Championship at this moment in time, and these positive performances are evidently enhancing the feel-good factor around Villa Park.

Mings has hilariously mocked Abraham on Instagram today though, as he posed for a photoshoot at the club's training ground.

Both players have been hugely impressive this season, and without them, Villa simply wouldn't currently be occupying one of the play-off places.

Mings has hardly put a foot wrong all season since he signed on Deadline Day, and was on the scoresheet in the win over Blackburn Rovers at the weekend.

Abraham netted his 22nd goal of the season against Rovers as well and will be keen to keep up his impressive goal record heading towards the conclusion of this year's campaign.

The duo will be hoping they can continue their impressive run of form when Aston Villa are next in action against play-off chasing, Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend.

The Verdict:

They have to be one of the most feared teams heading towards the conclusion of this season.

When they are in such a good run of form, it seems difficult for any team to stop them.

Both Mings and Abraham play a crucial role at both ends of the pitch and if Villa are to have any chance of winning promotion to the Premier League, then they will need the pair to be at the top of their game.
