Tyrese Campbell sends message to his Stoke City teammate after exciting news

Stoke City striker Tyrese Campbell has sent a message to his teammate Tom Edwards after it was announced that the full-back has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

Edwards has risen through the ranks at Stoke and has been able to establish himself as an important player for the first team over the past few seasons.

The 20-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with his hometown club, extending his stay at the Bet365 Stadium until the summer of 2024.

The right-back has made eight appearances in the Championship and the club have decided to reward him for his impressive displays by securing his future.

Campbell – who is starting to establish himself as a regular for Stoke in the Championship this season – has taken to social media to congratulate Edwards on his new contract and delivered a message to him via his personal Instagram story.

Stoke have made a slow start to the season in the Championship and are currently 23rd in the league table following their 1-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night.

Nathan Jones’ side have had a couple of important results recently though and go into their clash with Millwall at the weekend looking for their third win in four league matches.

Did Tom Edwards deserve his new contract at Stoke City?

The Verdict

Edwards has been one of the few positives for Stoke and it’s a major boost for the club to get him tied down to a new contract.

The fact that the Potters were so keen to get him tied down to a new long-term deal, even though he had over a year remaining on his existing contract, underlines just how pleased they have been with him.

As a local lad and as a player who has risen through the ranks at Stoke, I’m sure he’ll be delighted to commit his long-term future to the club and I’m sure he’ll appreciate this message from his teammate.
