For Sheffield Wednesday, preparations for next season will already be well underway after Steve Bruce came in and brought some much-needed positivity with him.

The Owls produced late and impressive run of form, which took them from the cusp of the relegation zone and up into the play-off race.

But now the challenge of putting his mark on the squad is at hand for Bruce and the club were linked with another name on Thursday in the form of Sunderland defender Adam Matthews, according to Football Insider.

So would this be a good addition to the Wednesday set up?

We discuss...

George Harbey

"A typical Steve Bruce signing.

"Matthews has endured a mixed season with Sunderland, but on his day, he’s far too good for League One football.

"His wages are believed to be quite high though, and if Wednesday sign Odubajo, then it’s quite a pointless signing for me."

Toby Wilding

"I think this could be a good signing.

"The Owls will need to recruit at the back now that loan deals for several defenders are set to expire, and Matthews would offer an element of experience to their back line.

"With the defender out of contract at the end of the season, this is one that could well be worth a look."

Louie Chandler

"This could be a clever signing.

"Matthews has shown with Sunderland that he is more than good enough for the Championship and getting him for nothing is very tempting.

"Bruce needs to be careful he does not go too wild in the transfer but I think this would be a smart move."
