Offering an update in regards to the Rams’ transfer business, Conway tweeted: “Phillip Cocu hoped to have his first signing of January by the end of this week.
“My understanding that won’t be happening and now likely to happen next week.
“Cocu wanted his business done early, seems he won’t get his first player until a week before the window shuts.”
Despite the fact that the transfer window has been open for nearly two weeks, the Rams have yet to add to their roster of players.
Derby manager Cocu has instead sanctioned several departures with Kieran Dowell, Jamie Paterson, Max Hunt and Jayden Mitchell-Lawson all being allowed to leave Pride Park.
Currently 17th in the Championship standings, the Rams’ hopes of reaching the play-offs are already hanging by a thread and thus a failure to recruit between now and the end of January could effectively kill off their top-six chances.

Typical January transfer window. It’s like a set of dominoes isn’t it? You have to wait for the first one to fall before the rest move. I’m not convinced anything will happen. pic.twitter.com/b3R3QuqQsh

It's starting to feel like groundhog day. Every window we get linked with decent names, none happen, and we make desperation signings.

Gone from Investment in by Jan and signings early on. To no investment news still at mid January and no player signings till end of Jan. The Derby County way.

If Cocu signs no one and we remain bottom end of the table, I’d be amazed if he gets another season. It’s easy to say he came in late etc but football is a results business, and I’ve noticed the crowds dropping steadily. That said who do we replace him with? Chop & change fails.

Getting a little farcical behind the scenes, isn’t it?

Love the desperation in fans demanding any sort of signing rather than willing to wait for the right player/number 1 choice

Clubs a joke

At the very least keep looking around and approach other targets, otherwise we are stalling our transfer process waiting on one bloke.

Having been held to a draw by Middlesbrough last weekend, Derby will be hoping to get back to winning ways in the Championship on Saturday when they face Hull City at Pride Park.
