Gustavo Hamer is a man in demand this summer by the sounds of things, after a good season for Coventry City in the Sky Bet Championship.

Football League World has been told that several clubs are interested in him including Rangers, Norwich City and Brentford.

Would he be a good signing for the Bees this summer, then? Our writers here at FLW discuss...

Is he an upgrade on their current midfield options?

Hamer has impressed me in the Championship, and he could be a solid option to have for the Bees if they're to fall short in their bid for promotion into the Premier League this term.

Brentford should have their sights set on more experienced players in the top-flight if they're to win promotion into the Premier League, with Hamer not having much experience under his belt in English football.

There are better options out there for Thomas Frank's side ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

Ned Holmes

This could be a really smart move from Brentford.

The Bees recruitment has been brilliant in recent years and winning the race for Gustavo Hamer could be another bit of business that pays real dividends.

Hamer has been excellent for Coventry this season and looks as though he deserves to be playing for a top half Championship side at the very least.

He has all the technical skills to flourish at a club like Brentford and would slot into their three-man midfield nicely.

The 23-year-old may not be ready for the Premier League, should the Bees win promotion, and patience will likely be needed to allow him to produce his best in west London.

That said, a few years down the line we could be looking back at this move as a masterstroke.

George Harbey

This strikes me as a typical Brentford signing.

We all know about Brentford’s offensive quality and how well-drilled they are in midfield, and Hamer would fit right into their plans.

He’s a technically-gifted, robust, tenacious midfielder who has been such a key cog for Coventry this season.

Alongside the likes of Josh Dasilva and Mathias Jensen, he could thrive and help to pull the strings for an impressive Bees side.

I’d be a big fan of this.
