‘Typical Albion,’ ‘Not realistic’ – Plenty of West Brom fans react to emerging transfer target

Plenty of West Bromwich Albion fans have taken to social media to react to the news that the club are interested in signing Brentford striker Neal Maupay this summer.

The Express & Star claim that West Brom are keen on signing the 22-year-old, but face strong competition from Premier League newcomers Sheffield United and Aston Villa.

Maupay scored 28 goals for Brentford in all competitions last season and is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the Championship.

West Brom do not have the money to compete with Sheffield United or Aston Villa, but are keeping close tabs on the striker in case his move to the Premier League falls through.

Slaven Bilic has made signing a new striker his top priority this summer, after West Brom lost their two top goalscorers from last season – Dwight Gayle and Ray Rodriguez.

Gayle scored 24 goals for West Brom while on loan from Newcastle United last season, but the striker has now returned to his parent club, while Rodriguez scored 22 goals for the Baggies, but left the club to join Burnley earlier this week.

The news that West Brom have been linked with Maupay caused a reaction from Baggies fans on social media, however many fans are far from optimistic about the chances of the transfer happening.

Here is a look at the best reactions from West Brom fans on Twitter…
