Lincoln City manager Michael Appleton has revealed that Tyler Walker's future at Lincoln City is set to be resolved in the coming days.

The forward, who joined the Imps on a season-long loan deal from Nottingham Forest last summer, could be recalled by his parent club this month.

The Reds were looking into the possibility of bringing Walker back to the City Ground at the start of January but have yet to make a definitive decision in regards to the 23-year-old's immediate future.

A star performer for Lincoln this season, the forward has scored 16 goals in all competitions whilst also providing four assists for his team-mates.

Having opted to cut ties with Rafa Mir following the Spaniard's underwhelming loan spell at the club, Forest may need to add to their their attacking options between now and the end of the transfer window in order to boost their chances of achieving automatic promotion in May.

Currently fourth in the Championship standings, the Reds could find it beneficial to draft Walker in as a back-up option for Lewis Grabban who has found the back of the net on 16 occasions during the current campaign.

Speaking to LincolnshireLive about the futures of Walker and his team-mates Jake Hesketh and Joe Morrell, Appleton said: "They (the decisions) are still to be made, to a degree.

"There's still deadlines on them in terms of whether they could potentially go.

"But we have been working hard with the clubs to get them to give us as much time as they possibly can if they're think about doing it (recalling them).

"With one of them we should know by Monday, with another we should know by Wednesday."

The Verdict

Although Grabban has been in fantastic form for Forest this season, it could be argued that he may need some added-competition up-front in order to take his game to new heights.

Therefore, the Reds ought to consider the possibility of bringing Walker back from his loan spell at Lincoln as the forward has made great strides in terms of his development in recent months.

Whilst Walker has yet to deliver the goods on a consistent basis during his career, there is no reason why he cannot end up thriving under the guidance of Lamouchi.

Having already made a positive impact on the likes of Matty Cash, Brice Samba and Ben Watson this season, the Frenchman will be confident in his ability to get the best out of the former Mansfiedl Town loanee.
