Tyler Roberts has revealed that his favourite Leeds United goal to date was his first, a lobbed effort in last season’s 3-0 victory over Preston North End at Elland Road.

Leeds welcomed Alex Neil’s side to West Yorkshire on a miserable evening, with rain lashing down at Elland Road.

Liam Cooper headed Marcelo Bielsa’s side ahead, before Roberts – deputising for the injured Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe – secured the points with a brace.

The Welshman’s second was a well directed header, but his first was a classy lob following a long ball from Kalvin Phillips.

For the Leeds forward, that’s the best goal he’s scored for the club, as he revealed to the club’s official website: “I’ll go for the lob against Preston North End.  It was my first goal for Leeds, it was such a big moment and obviously it was a decent finish as well!”

Roberts’ other goal last season came via a long-range effort against Hull City, whilst he’s scored three goals this season; a punched finish against QPR, as well as a brace from the bench in the 4-0 win over Hull.

The first of his goals at Hull this season came on the back of a sweeping move, as Leeds broke the entire length of the field before Mateusz Klich teed up Roberts to finish empathically.

The Verdict

Looking back, Roberts has scored some very good goals over the course of his Leeds career.

It’s tough to pick out the best one; in the eyes of many it was his first against Hull this season, but you can see why he’s picked the lobbed effort against Preston.

It was his first for the club and a classy finish too.
