Tyler Roberts could be rubbing his hands with glee at the prospect of being given another chance to impress Marcelo Bielsa.

The 20-year-old attacker has had a limited role this season and was given a more prominent part in the team when Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford were both injured.

Now, with news of the 26-year-old striker Roofe sustaining knee ligament damage, the Wales international needs to be thinking that this is his moment.

Of course, he will be devastated for his teammate to be out for an extended period due to the nature of the injury, but in equal measure, must be relishing the opportunity.

Roberts has been a substitute for the last nine league games in a row making varied appearances in both.

The only difference between earlier in the season and now, is that Bamford, too, is fit to play.

If Roberts is to usurp the club’s main man up front in Roofe’s absence, he is going to have to give it everything he has in training to get named in the side.

Having his teammate injured could be a blessing in disguise as he is somewhat of an afterthought after a solid run in the side back in September time.

Roberts needs to be fuelled by hunger and determination to stake a claim to be an active part of the Leeds side that could potentially achieve promotion before the injured striker returns

As one door closes, another opens – and it has for Roberts on this occasion.

Now is the time for the 20-year-old to grab his chance with both hands – he has nothing to lose and everything to gain.

He needs to be up to the task and push himself to improve and get back into the starting XI.
