Charlton Athletic continued their impressive start to the season, as they beat in-form Reading 2-0 at the Madejski Stadium.
It was an evenly-contested game in the first-half, with George Puscas squandering the best chance of the half for the Royals from close-range.
They were made to pay for that as well, as West Brom loanee, Jonathan Leko opened the scoring on 51 minutes, as his deflected effort beat Reading goalkeeper Rafael.
Lyle Taylor then doubled their lead from the penalty spot late on, as Charlton sit third in the Championship table heading into the international break.
Leko’s goal was his first of the season, and he took to Instagram to issue his thoughts after the win.
West Brom’s Matt Phillips, Rekeem Harper and Leeds’ Tyler Roberts reacted to Leko’s first goal for the Addicks, and it’s safe to say that they were pleased for the youngster.
Leko was unlikely to feature much for West Brom this season, so the club made the decision to loan him out to find regular minutes in the Championship.
He’s certainly going to have made a good impression so far in his loan spell with Lee Bowyer’s side, and if the Addicks can build on the momentum they’ve created, then they’ll be a tough side to beat this term.
Leko and his Charlton team-mates are next in action against Birmingham City after the international break, where they’ll be looking to build on their unbeaten start to their league campaign.
He’s a player with a bright future ahead of him.
I’ll admit that I had my doubts as to whether Charlton would survive in the Championship this season, but I’m pleased to see them proving me wrong.
They were brilliant yesterday, and Leko caused Reading’s defence a number of problems with his pace and direct style of play going forward.
