Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts was delighted to be back out on the field of play after helping his team to three points yesterday.
Roberts has been missing for most of the season thanks to injury but returned yesterday after being introduced by Marcelo Bielsa in the second as Kalvin Phillips’ second-half strike proved enough for the Whites to take all three points.
And speaking to the club’s official website following the game, Roberts made sure he praised the Leeds fans for their part in the win over the Blues.
“The atmosphere was ridiculous, the fans did an excellent job and everyone behind the scenes did a good job, it was amazing. Coming on in the second half and getting some minutes it was great, its been a long summer, so I’m glad to be back and helping the team get up the table” Roberts said.
Roberts was a key cog in the team last season and was used regularly by Marcelo Bielsa thanks to his ability to capably play across a number of attacking positions.
The forward went on to further explain how he’s hoping to help the team going forward, starting with a tricky midweek trip to Preston North End.
“We had a good result last year at Preston, but this year they’ve started well and have been scoring lots of goals. We are wary of that, but we’ll play our normal game and try to dominate possession,” he added.
Leeds remain firmly in the hunt for promotion and sit second in the Championship table behind pace-setters, West Brom.
It’s nice to see Roberts getting back into the action and he should prove a valuable player as the season progresses.
It adds to the depth of the Leeds squad and they are going to need that more than ever this term if they are to see things out and get over the line and back into the Premier League.
Roberts will look to add some more goals to his performances too to take the weight of pressure off of the likes of Patrick Bamford and Eddie Nketiah.
