There is a lot of uncertainty around Elland Road at the moment after Garry Monk's shock resignation from his post as manager.

Numerous big names including the likes of Aitor Karanka, Michael Laudrup and even Claudio Ranieri have been linked with the vacant hot seat, proving the Whites still have the pulling power of a top club despite their lengthy absence from the top flight.

What is clear, is that the new manager will be tasked with improving upon Leeds' 7th place finish of last season. The Whites fell at the last hurdle of their playoff push, finishing 5 points behind Fulham who secured the final play-off spot.

New signings are a certainty when a new manager takes the reigns at a club and it could potentially be a smart move for the new Leeds boss to look north of the border in his search for talent.

This article is going to take a look at two players that could be plucked from the Scottish top flight this summer...

Barrie McKay

Rangers starlet Barrie McKay is certainly someone who should be on Leeds United's radar this summer. The wide man is very quick, excellent with the ball at his feet and has bags of flair and trickery to beat his man.

McKay’s potential was recognised by the Scotland national team in his younger days for whom he has been capped at under-18, under-19 and under-21 level. He has since gone on to earn a full senior cap for the national team and will no doubt be harbouring hopes of future call-ups to the squad, something that a move to the Sky Bet Championship could help with.

Barring two loan spells with Greenock Morton and Raith Rovers, the 22-year-old has been at Rangers his whole career, amassing close to 150 appearances for the club throughout that time. The winger netted four goals in the Scottish top flight last season bringing his tally to 18 overall for the club.

Liam Boyce

Leeds are desperate for another forward to take the pressure off last season's goal machine Chris Wood and Northern Ireland international Liam Boyce could be just the solution they are looking for.

The frontman is currently plying his trade in Scotland for Ross County and would be no doubt extremely interested in the prospect of playing for such a huge club as Leeds United. The 26-year-old has already earned 7 caps for the Northern Ireland national team and a move to the Championship would certainly do his chances of future call-ups no harm.

Prior to his arrival in Scotland, Boyce had two spells with Irish side Cliftonville split up with a brief spell with Werder Bremen II.

In total for Cliftonville, Boyce made 150 appearances for the club, netting 74 goals.

Boyce finished ahead of the likes of Adam Rooney, Scott Sinclair, Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele in the Scottish Premiership goalscoring charts last season and is clearly deserving of a move to England.
