QPR outcasts Niko Hamalainen and Giles Phillips are set to leave the club on loan with an MLS side emerging as the favourites to sign the pair according to West London Sport.

New England Revolution are the club that are interested in signing the defenders on loan for the remainder of the season.

Hamalainen has made six first-team appearances for QPR since arriving at the club in 2014, whilst Phillips is yet to make a single appearance for the senior team.

Revolution are currently managed by former Aston Villa and Tottenham goalkeeper, Brad Friedel and are said to be closing in on a deal on the pair.

The transfer window for the MLS opens in the near future and the pair could certainly be tempted by a loan move elsewhere when the window does officially open.

They won't be the first players to be heading for a temporary exit at QPR, with the likes of Sean Goss and Paul Smyth already having left the club earlier in the transfer window.

Both Hamalainen and Phillips will be hoping that a successful loan move away from the club will result in the pair staking a strong claim for a place in Steve McClaren's first-team.

The Verdict:

This is the best move for both parties involved here.

Hamaleinen and Phillips are never going to be considered in Steve McClaren's first-team picture this season.

A successful loan move is exactly what the pair need, and they'll be hoping to impress in the MLS for the remainder of this year's campaign
