It has today been confirmed that highly rated central midfielder Aaron Tshibola has joined Aston Villa from Sky Bet Championship rivals Reading on a four-year deal.

The 21-year-old has been at the Royals for the whole of his career, bar a loan spell with Hartlepool United in the 2014/15 season.

He joined Reading in 2008, and was a youth player at the club until 2014, being part of the academy which has produced stars like Gylfi Sigurdsson, Shane Long and Hal Robson-Kanu. Tshibola will be eager to show that he can become a part of this illustrious list.

This is a move which will bring dismay to the majority of the Reading fanbase, and even the manager at the club himself. Jaap Stam had made it clear that he wanted to keep Tshibola as part of his squad.

Aston Villa had to fight off a number of other clubs to secure the services of Tshibola, with the likes of Norwich City, Celtic and Crystal Palace believed to be interested in the 21-year-old, but is his price tag and the interest in him justified?

Here, FootballLeagueWorld writer Jack Sharp looks at TWO pros and TWO cons for Aston Villa with the signing of Aaron Tshibola...

Pro - Wealth of talent

Last season, Aston Villa were a team who looked thoroughly lethargic from start to finish, with no-one inspiring the team in their rapid descent from the Premier League.

There will be no danger of a lethargic Villa side this season.

Tshibola is a player who has tons of energy, and fighting spirit. The 6' 3" midfielder will bring desire, talent and energy to the Villa midfield.

If the 21-year-old is utilised correctly and remains injury free, he could be instrumental in helping Villa secure promotion back to the top-flight.

He has been capped by England at Under-18 level, and is one of the most talented English prospects outside of the Premier League.

Pro - Versatility

Tshibola is wanted by Villa and Newcastle

Tshibola is a very versatile player, able to do a job as a defensive midfielder as well as his usual role as a central midfielder.

He is extremely multi-talented as a midfielder, and the player who has made a total of 85 career appearances will be hoping that his adaptive nature can secure him a place in the Aston Villa line-up.

The central midfielder position was a position in which Villa was really lacking class last season.

Tshibola could definitely be the player to provide that supplement.

Con - Inexperienced

It is undeniable that Tshibola possesses many great qualities, however he does naturally have some weaknesses.

For all of the raw talent, pace and strength that he possesses, it is an issue that Tshibola doesn't possess much experience, especially in the Championship.

The youngster has only made 13 appearances in the Championship, a total which asks massive questions of the fee that Villa paid for him. The fee was believed to be around £5.5 million, a sum which could be viewed as audacious for a player so inexperienced.

The Villains will need a lot of class, ability and mental toughness if they are to achieve their aim of promotion back to the top-flight at the first attempt.

Will a player with 13 appearances in the league be able to fulfil those requirements?

Con - Injury prone

Another con of Tshibola is the fact that he is injury prone.

The fact that he only made 13 league appearances last term was because of his struggles with injury.

The midfield ace needed to undergo an operation on his hamstring in February due to an injury sustained in a FA Cup win over Walsall. This will be a worry to Villa fans, and will undoubtedly raise more questions over his price tag.

Tshibola made a commanding start to the last campaign, and was looking like he could have a huge season. However, an ankle injury ruled him out for two months in October, then he sustained his hamstring injury only ten minutes into his return.

Tshibola isn't the only Villa ace known for being injury prone. England Under-21 and Villa stalwart Jack Grealish is also accustomed to the sights and smells of the treatment room.

The Villa Park faithful will be hoping that both players can keep fit in the upcoming campaign.
