At the time of writing this, Cardiff City remained right in the mix and in pole position to land automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Manager Neil Warnock has done a super job for the Bluebirds and another promotion on his CV would be quite some achievement for the former Sheffield United, QPR, and Crystal Palace manager.

Battling and scrapping for results for much of the season, Cardiff have epitomised a 'typical Warnock' team, and any success they do get will be richly deserved.

With a squad which hasn't had nearly half the investment some of their rivals in the Championship have, Cardiff and Warnock can be proud of their season, but everyone involved with the club will know they need to make some additions in the summer to continue their success.

One place the club might look to snap up a few players is the Premier League, where plenty of players are biding their time and not playing nearly as much as they would want for their respective clubs.

With that in mind, we've taken a look at TWO Premier League players Cardiff could look to sign this summer...

Charlie Adam

If there is one thing Warnock is good at, it's getting the best out of players who might have fallen off the wagon somewhat, and Stoke's Charlie Adam falls right into that category.

The Scottish midfielder has drifted away from first team action over the course of this season, but would still represent an excellent signing for a club like Cardiff.

A classy on the ball operator and lethal from dead ball situations, Adam would be a superb addition for Warnock and the Bluebirds.

Sam Byram

The former Leeds defender has somewhat struggled to make an impression at the Hammers, but he is exactly the sort of player a manager like Warnock would relish working with.

Byram was one of the most sought after talents in the league prior to making his move to London, and the ability is definitely still there.

A run in the first team and some minutes under his belt would do Byram the world of good, and he'd be an excellent signing for the Bluebirds.
