Birmingham City more or less secured their Championship status yesterday with a 2-1 win over playoff chasing Sheffield United at St Andrews.

The Blues had been struggling and looking like getting dragged back into a relegation battle once again, but their win yesterday looks to have put paid to that, and Garry Monk will no doubt take a lot of credit for ensuring their survival.

Monk will be looking to the summer already no doubt and will want to sign some new players who he hopes will ensure the club have a better time of things next season.

With the Premier League having bags of talent and plenty of players who are not getting adequate first team minutes, we at FLW think the Blues could make some excellent signings from top flight clubs.

With that in mind, we have taken a look at TWO Premier League players who the Blues could look to sign this summer...

Lee Chung-Yong

The Crystal Palace midfielder has fallen away from first team action this season and has found himself without first team football for much of the campaign.

Chung-Yong though is a tremendous talent, and a move to the Championship might be an ideal move for both the club and the player.

Classy with the ball and capable of playing in numerous positions, the Korean would represent an excellent signing for the Blues.

Wayne Routledge

The Swansea City man has been another who has been in and out of the Swans team this season, and could well be open to a summer move if it comes about.

A move to a club like Birmingham, where he would be a regular and fit in nicely at St Andrews, and he is the sort of player who we think Garry Monk could get the best out.

Speedy on both wings, and capable of getting into goalscoring positions, Routledge could be a superb addition for the Blues if he is able to be brought in during the summer.
