Jack Marriott is red hot right now, both on and off the field.

On the pitch he's scoring for fun, blasting Peterborough up the League One table with alarming regularity.

Championship side Sheffield Wednesday are now in the hunt for the 26-goal forward.

Off the field, he's generating interest from across the second tier.

He looks likely to seal a big move in the summer, something that must have seemed beyond him when he was cast side by Ipswich a couple of seasons ago.

Plenty of goals at Luton Town in 2016/17 earned him the Posh move and the same again should see him in the second-tier next season, at the very least.

Marriott isn't the only potential star fermenting away in the Peterborough squad, but could his departure spark a fire sale of sorts? If he goes, will others who have plied their trade alongside him think they might do the same?

Perhaps the Owls will want to make it a double or even a triple swoop, not only bagging a couple of good players but helping the special centre forward settle far easier at Hillsborough.

After all, Jordan Rhodes hasn't settled so they may want to try another approach.

If Marriott does join Sheffield Wednesday, here are two players FLW think might follow him.

Maddison is the obvious choice to join Marriott is he moves, he's been behind many of the forward's goals and at 24-years old is ripe for investment and a potentially healthy profit.

He's primarily a winger but can operate in midfield or even at left wing back, something that would wholly suit the 3-5-2 Jos Luhukay has been playing recently. George Boyd has filled the role, but a vibrant and exciting Marcus Maddison could easily step up.

The issue might be cost, Maddison has been hunted by Fulham in the past and could be set for a move one level higher than his team mate.

26-year old Lloyd is another impressive wide man who has really carved a niche for himself at London Road. He's a late bloomer, having plied his trade with Stockport County of the National League North last season, but 13 strikes in 36 games have proven he can easily adapt to the next level.

Again, he's a creator but he can also round a move off which make his a double threat. He might not have the profile of Maddison or the goals of Marriott, but he falls somewhere in between the two and would represent a slightly cheaper option to the former and a perfect companion to the latter in Wednesday's midfield.

He's also a long way from home, once leaving Lincoln City for Colwyn Bay with a desire to be closer to home thought to be the reason. Sheffield is closer to the North West than Peterborough which could influence a move.
