Luton Town made it to the second round of the FA Cup yesterday with a comfortable victory against Gareth Ainsworth's Wycombe at Kenilworth Road.

The Hatters were firmly in control of a game they wholly deserved to win, not long after drawing 1-1 with Wycombe in the league. Usually, Ainsworth's side are robust and hard to break down, but Luton looked in little trouble all afternoon as they booked their place in Monday's draw.

Andrew Shinnie scored just before half time to settle the home fans' nerves, before a Harry Cornick goal 20 minutes from time killed off any lingering hopes the visitors had of getting back on terms.

There might not have been a gulf in class, but the result was rarely in doubt and although Wycombe weren't overrun, it was clear to see which of the two sides are in the top six.

Nathan Jones has assembled a squad more than capable of sustaining a promotion challenge and maybe even a decent cup run. Here's two players who really caught the eye for them this weekend.

Shinnie has spent time at Rangers and Birmingham City before winding up at Kenilworth Road and his pedigree is clear to see.

He was an effective attacking force all afternoon, providing support for the strikers but also getting amongst the chances himself.

He's Championship quality, there's no doubt about that at all.

Sonny Bradley swapped Plymouth for Luton in the summer, hedging his bets that the promoted side would do better than the Pilgrims. He made the right call and the Hatters are much better for it.

He's a strong defender, but he has vision and organisational skills which suggest the potential to play higher.

He was a big capture in the summer and yesterday's outing proved that.
