Sheffield United have started their season somewhat disappointingly, with consecutive losses to promotion contenders Swansea City and Middlesbrough in their opening two fixtures.

A dramatic late winner from Yan Dhanda sealed all three points for Graham Potter’s side, while the Blades were on the end of 3-0 battering from Tony Pulis’ Boro.

Sheffield United head coach Chris Wilder named the experienced McGoldrick and Clarke are his starting centre forwards, but neither front man has been able to find the net, despite racking up more shots, corners and possession against the Swans.

The Blades managed just two shots on target throughout the match, despite their high number of overall shots, raising question marks over their forwards finishing, while a leaky defence, that has already shipped five goals in their opening two matches, is cause for concern.

With that in mind, here are three players that Sheffield United should be targeting on loan this week.

Cameron Carter-Vickers, who has made a total of four appearances for Tottenham since joining the club in 2016, spent the early stages of last season on loan at Bramall Lane.

The 20-year-old defender played 18 times for the Blades, scoring one goal, and helped the Blades reach a tenth place finish in the league table.

In desperate need of an insurgence of youth into his squad, Chris Wilder should be looking to bring in his former loanee back to the club for another season.

Mikey Johnston in just breaking into the Celtic first team, having made his debut for the Bhoys in May last year, but will struggle for regular first team football this season.

The versatile forward, who can play out wide or down the middle, has a lot of potential and could be an interesting addition for Chris Wilder’s attacking arsenal.

The 19-year-old would finally give the Blades boss a young option up top, and one that deserves a chance to prove his worth in a competitive league.

Whilst Stefano Okaka may get more of a chance this season under the reign of Javi Gracia at Vicarage Road, the forward is likely be to be a third or fourth choice striker at the Premier League outlet, and has been linked with a loan move away from the Hornets.

The 29-year-old striker, who has been on the books at Watford since 2016, made 15 appearances last season, with almost every one as a substitute, scoring just one goal.

But, with heaps of ability and in desperate need for first team football, it might just be worth Chris Wilder enquiring about the dominant front man.
