Two more faces have left Sheffield Wednesday just days after the club announced that six first-team members were to be released, report the Sheffield Star

Under-23 duo Freddie Nielsen and Dan Wallis have each confirmed that they two will be leaving Hillsborough when their contracts expire after thanking the club's fans and staff over social media.

Defender Nielsen made five first-team appearances under Jos Luhukay at the start of the season, with two coming in the League Cup, but is yet to feature since Steve Bruce's arrival.

He is joined out the door by goalkeeper Wallis who has featured for both the club's under-19s and 23s never broke into the Owls' first team.

The pair both join first-team players George Boyd, Gary Hooper, David Jones, Almen Abdi, Daniel Pudil and Marco Matias out the door as Bruce looks to freshen things up.

The verdict

It is clear that Bruce's determination to make his mark stretches beyond just first team issues.

Which I think is a good thing. It may look harsh, shipping out two youngsters from the reserves, but if they have little chance of playing then there is not point hoarding them.

Bruce's process may take a bit of time but the fans need to trust it.
