Paul Lambert arrived at Wolverhampton Wanderers over the international break and his first challenge is to revive a downbeat squad and lift them up the Championship table.

His first game at the helm ended in a 0-0 draw at Deepdale against Preston North End, which is not an easy fixture by any stretch of the imagination.

Lambert will be hoping that the hard-fought stalemate will be a platform for Wolves to build some success from.

They have managed just 4 wins from their opening 17 games and sit just 2 points clear of the relegation zone as a consequence of that.

Wolves' last win was back in late September against Brentford and Lambert needs to put things right at Molineux so that the fans have something to cheer about again.

Undoubtedly Lambert will be using the January window to get his own players in but it might be a case of having to sell before buying in order to balance the books.

Here are two that could leave and two that could come in at Wolves.

OUT - Mike Williamson

Paul Lambert will be looking at some defenders that are on his books and are just eating up wages without offering anything back to the club.

One is Richard Stearman, who might have his loan deal terminated, and the other is Mike Williamson, who really needs offloading after failing to make a single appearance in the 2016/17 season.

If Wolves can get the 33-year-old off their wage bill then that opens a window to bring a better defender in.

IN - Tyias Browning

It might be time for Tyias Browning to move away from Goodison Park as he is not close to breaking into the first team at Everton.

The 22-year-old is at a vital stage of his career and needs to move on to better himself as a footballer.

The strong defender could come to Wolves if Williamson leaves and his ability to play anywhere across the back makes him a desirable asset.

OUT - Paul Gladon

Things haven't worked out for Paul Gladon at Molineux and Paul Lambert might just want to get rid in January.

The Dutch striker has played just twice in the Championship and hasn't shown any signs of becoming a first team regular anytime soon.

The 24-year-old should probably just return to the Netherlands, where has enjoyed success, and Wolves should cut their losses.

IN - Benik Afobe

Wolves fans would love former striker Benik Afobe back at the club.

The 23-year-old has been a bit-part player at Bournemouth this season and might look to return to the Championship in January to get regular playing time.

A return to Molineux almost seems a match made in heaven for the former England under-21 man as he hit 23 goals in 48 matches for Wolves during his short spell there previously.
