Norwich have struggled to find consistency in the Championship this season following their relegation from the Premier League but, fortunately, the Canaries are still amongst the contenders for promotion.

A slip in the past six weeks has seen them decline down from the automatic promotion spots and into the play-offs, which isn't ideal, and Norwich's objective will be to climb the standings once again and achieve a promotion without the drama of the play-offs.

With the likes of Brighton, Reading, Birmingham, Leeds and Huddersfield to contend with, that certainly won't be easy and Norwich will need the right sort of business in the January transfer window to bolster their chances of an immediate return to the Premier League.

Both incoming and outgoing deals will be crucial for Norwich and we've highlighted four pieces of business we believe will be ideal for the club in the January window...

IN: Jerome Sinclair

The 20-year-old forward left Liverpool for Watford and better first-team opportunities over the summer but they have not been forthcoming, with the young forward likely to now spend the second-half of the season on-loan in the Championship.

Norwich will face a wealth of competition in the quest for Sinclair's signature but they'd have a strong chance of securing his services, as they can offer the chance of success.

On top of that, Sinclair could be a key-player in the squad.

IN: Nahki Wells

The Huddersfield man's signature is likely to be fiercely contested in the January transfer window as the Yorkshire side face the prospect of losing the striker for just £8m, due to Nahki Well's reluctance to sign a new contract.

Norwich are amongst those believed to be interested and it would be a huge coup if they were to land Wells' signature from one of their promotion rivals.

Whilst it would be an unlikely deal in most situations, Huddersfield's inability to fend off interest gives Norwich a way into securing the deal.

OUT: Kyle Lafferty

The Northern Irishman has been very vocal in his desire to earn more chances with Norwich but the opportunities have not been forthcoming, making it within everyone's interest for the striker to leave in the New Year.

The 29-year-old has the ability to be a leading striker for a promotion chasing side, which runs the risk of Norwich having to sell to a rival, but there is no point in the international striker being within the squad if he isn't given any chances.

OUT: Matt Jarvis

Matt Jarvis

The 30-year-old midfielder has been with Norwich since September 2015, initially on a loan deal, but has fallen down the pecking order.

In that time, he's made just 14 league appearances for the Canaries- none of which have come this season.

With the veteran well out of contention, Norwich should listen to any offers that come their way and Jarvis himself will be keen on a move, as he could still be a top player for another side.

Selling Jarvis would raise funds and leave a place in the squad for a more competitive player to come in, so this is a deal that suits all parties.
