West Bromwich Albion are still on the look-out for a permanent replacement for Darren Moore, and two names have entered the frame to take the reins at the Hawthorns.

Reports from The Sun claim that Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill, and Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer are both on the club's radar ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

The latter is relatively new to management, but has been a resounding success at the helm of Charlton Athletic thus far.

The former Leeds manager has guided the London club to the League One play-off final this term, where they will face Sunderland at Wembley this weekend, after finishing 3rd in the league standings.

49-year-old O'Neill has managed Northern Ireland since 2011, winning 22 out of 64 games in charge, with his most notable achievement being their European Championship campaign in 2016. where he guided them to the knockout stages.

His only managerial spells in club management came with Brechin City and Shamrock Rovers, managing a total of 265 games.

Former Brighton manager Chris Hughton has also been linked with the vacant role at the Hawthorns, with current Lincoln City boss Danny Cowley also believed to be a target for the West Midlands side.

West Brom will be hoping to go one step further next season, after being knocked out of the play-off semi-finals by Aston Villa last week.

The Verdict

This is a very interesting piece of managerial news.

It would be a massive coup for West Brom if they were to lure Bowyer away from Charlton, given the job that he has done there over the last year or two.

O'Neill would be a gamble - international football is completely different to being a manager at club level, and he has very little experience of that in England especially.
