Birmingham City could potentially still find themselves down in League One by the end of this weekend, with the Blues holding a two point advantage over third bottom Burton Albion heading into tomorrow's game.

The Blues, led by new manager Garry Monk, will be desperate to preserve their Championship status and give Monk the chance to rebuild over the summer, with the former Leeds manager no doubt hoping to be able to bring in a few new players to propel his side to success next term.

Monk will no doubt have identified some targets already, and with a strict budget, he will need to select his players carefully as he ventures into the summer market.

We at FLW think there is a fair few already plying their trade in the Championship who would be of interest to Monk, so with that thought in mind, we've identified TWO Championship players who Birmingham City could look to sign this summer...

Adam Hammill

The Barnsley winger has been inconsistent in the main this season but has come to the fore over the last few weeks as the Reds have given themselves a fighting chance of staving off relegation.

Hammill has always been a talent, but he has never quite made it at the very top level.

However, he is still a classy player, and with the Blues needing width and match winners in their squad, Hammill could be the ideal signing.

Martyn Waghorn

If Birmingham are to progress and improve, then they will need goalscorers, and Ipswich man Waghorn is just that.

The former Sunderland and Leicester City man has banged in the goals this season in an underwhelming Ipswich team, and he might well be open to a fresh move.

Birmingham need goals, and Waghorn could well be the ideal man to fire them up the table and in contention for a run at the playoffs.
