Leganes and Girona have made inquiries about Martin Braithwaite, with the forward pushing for a late move out of Middlesbrough this summer.

Braithwaite has made it known to Boro that he wishes to leave the Riverside Stadium at this late stage of the transfer window, with the deadline coming later today.

According to a report in the Northern Echo, Leganes and Girona have made formal inquiries over the availability of Braithwaite, with the duo looking to offer the forward a route to Spain and La Liga.

It’s a blow for Boro, with Braithwaite starting the 2018/19 season in promising form, with his partnership with Britt Assombalonga flourishing at this early stage of the campaign.

The 27-year-old has started all five of Boro’s Championship fixtures so far this season, scoring three goals for Tony Pulis’ side, who have started the season in terrific form.

The goals of Braithwaite have helped Boro to 13 points from a possible 15, leaving them in the automatic promotion places at this early stage of the season.

Tonight, Boro meet Leeds United at Elland Road, with the Whites holding an identical record to Pulis’ side ahead of the clash in West Yorkshire.

The Verdict

It’s a huge blow that Braithwaite wants to leave, as he’s looked extremely good so far this season.

However, he wants the move, so Boro shouldn’t stand in his way.

It’s now down to the club to recoup as much money as they can, as well as finding the best deal for the player.
