Turkish Super Lig outfit Alanyaspor are lining up a move for wantaway Sunderland star Wahbi Khazri, reports SporunDibi.Com.

The 26-year-old only moved to the Stadium of Light last year following a two-year stint with French side Bordeaux, yet was unable to keep the Black Cats in the Premier League last term with just one goal in 21 league games for David Moyes’ side.

And the Tunisia international has hardly endeared himself to the Sunderland faithful during his time in the North East either, and it all came to a head in their 3-0 defeat at Barnsley on Saturday, with the Black Cats supporters booing him when he was brought on in the second half.

Yet it appears that Khazri may well be about to end his Sunderland nightmare, as recent reports in Turkey suggest that top-flight outfit Alanyaspor are interested in signing him this month.

The Turkish outfit finished 12th in the Super Lig last season but only four points clear of safety, and thus will be on the lookout for reinforcements in a bid to again retain their top tier status, a quest which has started poorly given they’ve lost two of their first three league games.

Yet they may see Khazri as the answer to their problems as there’s little doubt that he is a talented player, and may need a fresh start to really live up to expectation.

And with his Sunderland career declining rapidly, it’s a deal which could well take place over the coming days.

The Verdict: Wahbi Khazri may be about to get his wish, a move away from Simon Grayson’s Sunderland.

The Tunisia international stated earlier in the year that he didn’t want to play for the club in the Championship, and the fans made their feelings clear as well by booing his introduction against Barnsley on Saturday.

The 26-year-old has simply not lived up to expectation at the Stadium of Light but certainly does have quality - a fresh start may be needed in Turkey in a move which is unlikely to faze Sunderland supporters too greatly.
