As far as modern club legends go, for Charlton Athletic, they do not come too much bigger than Johnnie Jackson.

The midfielder spent eight years with the club during some of their most difficult spells, signing in 2010 before officially hanging up his boots last summer.

In that time he made a total of 277 appearances for the Addicks and scored 55 goals, contributing a further 23 assists.

After retiring, however, Lee Bowyer was desperate to see that he remain a big part of the set-up at the Valley and brought him into the coaching fold as one of his assistant managers.

In his first season in the job, Charlton were promoted, impressively winning the League One play-offs despite a host of off-field issues engulfing them.
