Leeds United are continuing to chase deals for Matej Vydra, Abel Hernandez and Angus Gunn, following Marcelo Bielsa’s appointment as the club’s new head-coach.

A report from the Mirror has claimed that Leeds are set to give Bielsa a £20m transfer kitty this summer – the biggest since their days in the Premier League.

Bielsa, who was appointed yesterday on a two-year deal, has already been discussing transfer targets with Leeds, who are keen on Vydra, Hernandez and Gunn.

After a disappointing year in front of goal, Derby County’s Vydra is on Leeds’ radar, after the forward topped the goalscoring charts in the Sky Bet Championship last season.

Vydra scored 21 goals in the Championship, leading Derby to sixth.

Hernandez is another striker Leeds are considering, with the 27-year-old becoming a free agent this summer.

The striker bagged eight goals in 10 appearances during an injury-hit 2017/18 campaign, with his spell with Hull City proving to be prolific.

The goalkeeping department is another area Bielsa is keen to fix, with Gunn a target.

The Man City youngster spent last season on-loan with Norwich City in the Championship, where he impressed during his first year of senior football.

The Verdict

Leeds clearly plan to give Bielsa a squad capable of winning promotion, with the three names linked all high-profile Championship players.

£20m isn’t a huge amount of money, but mixed with some good free agents and loans, Leeds can build a talented squad.

These are exciting times for Leeds, who under Bielsa could be a real force in 2018/19.
