Three Portuguese clubs are interested in signing Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Filipe Melo, according to Portuguese media outlet O Jogo.

Filipe Melo has seen his time at Hillsborough severely disrupted by multiple injuries and he has not featured for the Owls since the final day of the 2014/15 season.

The Portuguese midfielder has only featured seven times for Wednesday since joining in February 2015 and all of his games came in that first season.

The 27-year-old is now back fit but his first team opportunities look bleak and he could be set for a loan exit until the end of the season.

The central midfielder is wanted by a trio of clubs back in his homeland, Portugal.

Pacos de Ferreira, Belenenses and Moreirense are all interested in Melo's services.

The central midfielder joined Wednesday from Moreirense and might be tempted by a move back there.

His current contract ends in 2018 so a permanent transfer would require a fee.
