Ipswich Town supporters have urged the club not to part company with defender Luke Woolfenden this month, with Sheffield United interested in making a £3million move for the 21-year-old, according to The Sun.

Woolfenden has been an integral part of Ipswich's defence so far this campaign, with the defender showing real maturity and the flexibility to perform well alongside Luke Chambers and James Wilson in either a four, or a back three so far this season.

The 21-year-old's form has been instrumental in helping Paul Lambert's side become one of the most difficult teams to break down in League One, with the Tractor Boys conceding the joint fewest amount of goals so far with just 23 shipped in 24 games.

Given Woolfenden's impressive form in League One this season, it is little surprise to see him attract the interest of clubs in higher divisions, and it will be interesting to see whether the Tractor Boys are able to turn down the likes of Premier League Sheffield United if they come in for the defender this month.

Considering some of the transfer fees being spent on defenders over the last few windows, some Ipswich supporters feel that Woolfenden would be worth more that what Sheffield United are reportedly considering offering for the defender.

Other supporters have suggested that Ipswich should not be entertaining the sale of one of their most important players, if they are serious about mounting an immediate return to the Championship this season.
