Sheffield United have regained the honour of being the top side in the Steel City, something unthinkable eighteen months ago as they languished in League One and the Owls fought for a top six Championship finish.

They say football is a fast-moving game where things can change quickly, but they don't change on their own. The Blades have become a solid unit, a hard-working and effective team managed expertly by Chris Wilder.

Wilder has served his time in charge of sides in the lower divisions and finally he's making his name on a proper stage, the English second-tier, arguably the third-biggest league in Europe.

The Blades must keep their culture and ethos much the same as it is now, the tightly knit group fighting against the odds at the top of the table.

Big-money buys might upset the balance and cohesion in their squad, but clever additions picked not only because of their skill, but also their attitude, would serve the club well.

We've been paying close attention to Sheffield United over the past few weeks and have put together a list of three players we think would seriously improve their current squad without disrupting it.

Bjorn Johnsen has already been linked with the club and he does look like the perfect signing for the Blades. Anyone who remembers Jostein Flo from the 1990s will doubtless look back with fondness and Johnsen could be his modern-day equivalent.

He a Norwegian forward who has scored 15 goals for Den Haag in the Eredivisie this season. He's a big lad, close to six foot five inches, and he had a spell at Hearts before leaving after a dressing room bust up.

The Blades need to be quick though as both Middlesbrough and Villa look set to pounce.

Vaulks has been a driving force behind Rotherham's climb up League One but he's only got a year left to run on his deal and, if the club don't get promoted, he could spark a transfer frenzy.

Vaulks is just the type of player who would fit nicely into the Bramall Lane method. He's a committed and dedicated midfielder with an eye for goal but no fear at indulging in the tougher side of the game. He's also an unassuming character who wouldn't upset their current balance.

Eisa is one for the future, one to take a punt on, but Sheffield United would be the right team to do it. He's been in great form for Cheltenham and he has all the attributes required to succeed.

He's quick and strong with a natural ability to find the back of the net. Elements of his game need work, he's an unpolished diamond, but his humble non-league background gives him a real sense of perspective which maybe other big-name strikers do not have.
