Nottingham Forest recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Barnsley last night with the sort of attacking performance Aitor Karanka will be demanding off his players in the months to come.

Scoring goals has been a major problem for the Reds but you wouldn't have known last night, as they easily beat the struggling Tykes.

However, it can't hide the problems that Forest have had under Karanka and he will know that he needs to make additions in order to bring that consistency over the course of a season.

Here we look at three players that Karanka should target as he looks to transform the East Midlands side into play-off contenders next season...

The Burnley striker is surely going to be available this summer given the lack of game time he has had at Turf Moor this season.

Therefore, a move to the Championship seems inevitable and Forest need to make sure they are ready to pounce for the former Huddersfield man.

He is proven at this level and scores goals, meaning he would solve the biggest problem that Karanka has.

Karanka has considered going back to his former club for several players and one man who would be a big addition is Adam Clayton.

The tenacious midfielder has a strong mentality and has proven himself to be a very capable player in the Championship over the years.

Tony Pulis will be looking to change Boro in the summer which could mean Clayton is available.

You only had to see Forest's game with Cardiff at the weekend to see how weak they are defensively.

They were bullied throughout by the Welsh side and badly missed a dominant centre-back, but Goldson could be that man.

The 25-year old won't get games at Brighton and may be open to a move.
