The January transfer window looked set to be a nervy time for Hull City as they were braced for an approach for their star man.

Jarrod Bowen has been a revelation for the Tigers this term, scoring 16 goals in 27 appearances for the mid-table Championship side.

Such a record was unlikely to go unnoticed, with the likes of Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur both credited with substantial interest in the forward as we moved towards the transfer window opening.

Thankfully for Hull City, there's been little to worry about so far.

The Athletic have reported that Grant McCann's side are yet to receive a concrete offer for the young forward.

They wrote: "There has been considerable interest in the 23-year-old, who has a little under six months left on his contract but with the club having the protection of being able to extend that deal by a further year.

"Tottenham Hotspur were regulars in East Yorkshire the season before last, while Steve Bruce — in charge of Hull when Bowen joined the academy in 2014 — is a long-term admirer at Newcastle United.

"Aston Villa, Leicester City and West Ham United are also understood to have watched the 23-year-old on several occasions, while Wolverhampton Wanderers are another whose interest emerged over the weekend.

"The Athletic can reveal, however, that these regular scouting visits are yet to translate into a single concrete bid either in this window or the last.

"A number of loan offers were made last summer for a player whose price is understood to sit slightly north of £20 million. But these were quickly rejected."

The verdict

It's a huge surprise that no one has tested Hull City's resolve with a move for Jarrod Bowen.

The 22-year-old looks more-than capable of making the move to the Premier League, and frankly it's only a matter of time before he gets the move of his dreams.

The Tigers won't be complaining though, and if they can keep hold of their star man until the summer they'll be very happy.
