Birmingham City midfielder Alen Halilovic is said to be of interest to both Panathinaikos and Galatasaray this summer, as per a recent report by Croatian publication Dnevno.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder only joined the Blues in November last year on a short term deal and has since seen his previous contract expire with the Midlands outfit.

Birmingham are said to have made the Croat an offer, but it is said to have remained unsigned as the former AC Milan and Barcelona midfielder weighs up his options before committing his future to a club.

Now it appears that the player has interest in his services from clubs in both Greece and Turkey, only heightening speculation that he could well depart from England.

Lee Bowyer was quick to state recently that the club would indeed be ready to move on without Halilovic if the midfielder continues to be hesitant over putting pen to paper on fresh terms, meaning that a decision will need to be made sooner rather than later.

The Dubrovnik born playmaker made 17 appearances for the Blues last term and scored one goal.

The Verdict

Anyone who has followed Halilovic's career closely will know that he has struggled with injuries in recent years and in my eyes, I believe that he has simply used Birmingham as a stepping stone to garner interest from elsewhere.

There is no doubt that he is a talented player but he didn't exactly pull up trees for the Championship side since coming to England.

I don't think he would be a massive loss if he chose to move on and I think he has made his intentions very clear by not signing the offer which is currently on the table.

Bowyer is quite right to say that the club won't wait forever and therefore I believe the Croat will indeed go elsewhere this summer.
