Leeds United will not look to sign Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell or his Derby County counterpart Louie Sibley this summer, The Daily Mirror reporter David Anderson has revealed.

Both Cantwell and Sibley have been linked with moves to Elland Road this summer, although it seems that neither will be securing a move to Yorkshire before the transfer window closes at 5pm on Friday afternoon.

According to Anderson's latest update, Leeds will not be pursuing a deal for either of the Championship duo in the next few days.

It is thought that Leeds do not have the funds available to purchase either player, due to the fact they have already spent £100million on the likes of Rodrigo Moreno, Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Raphinha this summer.

Despite that, Leeds are still expected to monitor the pair with a view to a possible move for one or both of them at some point in the future.

As things stand, Sibley has four years remaining on his contract at Derby, while Cantwell's contract at Norwich is set to expire at the end of the 2021/22 season.

The Verdict

This will no doubt be a big relief for both Norwich and Derby.

Both Cantwell and Sibley are key assets for their respective clubs, and at such a young age, have the potential to improve even further in the years to come.

As a result, neither club is likely to want to lose their player any time soon, meaning this should be a boost for them in the next few months.

Even so, the fact Leeds appear likely to continue to track the pair will be somewhat concerning, not least for Norwich, with Cantwell's contract set to enter its final year this time next summer.
