Bundesliga side SC Freiburg are said to be keen on selling Chima Okoroji this summer, with German magazine Kicker reporting that both Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City are interested in the 24-year-old.
A left back by trade, Okoroji spent the duration of the season just gone out on loan at SC Paderborn in the German second tier, and is now expected to leave his parent club this summer after returning from temporary spell.
The defender actually had English citizenship, which could be one of the main reasons why Rovers and the Potters are eyeing a move for his services this summer.
Okoroji took in 17 games for Paderborn last season across all competitions and originally came through the youth ranks at Bayern Munich before departing the Allianz Arena after failing to make a first team appearance for the Bavarian giants.

Freiburg are now awaiting proposals from interested parties, with the defender said to be on a list of players that will be allowed to leave the club this summer as they overhaul part of their first team squad.
Blackburn do arguably need to strengthen further at left back after seeing Amari’i Bell depart for pastures new and they may well see Okoroji as the ideal player to provide competition to Harry Pickering.
The signing from Crewe Alexandra will undoubtedly be first choice in that defensive role, but the signing of the Freiburg man this summer would add some much needed depth in what is a key position for Tony Mowbray and co.
Given that the German side are open to selling, Rovers may well be able to negotiate a knockdown price for a player that hasn’t played a lot of first team football in his career to date.
This could be a saga to keep an eye on, with Stoke sure to also be in the market for defensive reinforcements moving forwards.
