Aston Villa are said to have blown Tottenham Hotspur out of the water in order to sign Northampton Town forward Caleb Chukwuemeka this summer, as per a recent report by Football Insider.
Both Premier League clubs were said to be in the race to sign the talented 19-year-old during the transfer window just gone, with the striker eventually choosing to move to Villa Park over the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs were said to have submitted a player plus cash offer for the youngster, with it even being revealed that they were favourites to get a deal over the line for the teenager by the same publication.
However Villa then offered a lucrative professional contract, which allowed Chukwuemeka to link up with his brother Carney and ultimately led to the player choosing to head to the Midlands.

The striker has already made his senior debut for his new club, as he featured against Barrow in the Carabao Cup.
In the end Northampton knew that they could couldn’t keep hold of such a talented young player and the club certainly wished him well as he headed to Villa to take on a new challenge at a higher level this summer.
The youngster certainly has a big future in the game and will be looking to break into Dean Smith’s first team plans moving forwards after being handed his debut.
He certainly impressed many during his short stint at Sixfields and the hope will be now that he can go on to show his talents in the top flight moving forwards.
