Birmingham City are interested in making a move for Brescia midfielder Leonardo Morosini, according to Italian reports.
A story posted on website TuttoMercatoWeb claimed that the Blues had made contact to the Italian club over the signing of Morosini, who is also wanted by Ascoli.
The report goes on to claim that Ascoli are firm favourites to complete a move for the attacking midfielder with the 24-year-old’s representatives in Brescia to agree a deal.
Blues boss Pep Clotet is desperate to add to his squad this month after a relatively moderate first half of the Championship season, and it is claimed the Spaniard has a close relationship with Brescia president Massimo Cellino.
Morosini began his youth career with Inter Milan, before a spell with AlbinoLeffe led him to Brescia, where he broke in to the first team five years previous in Serie B.
Despite his reported reputation with the Blues and Ascoli, Morosini has only featured three times in Serie A this season.

Clotet has been largely quiet so far in the transfer window so it will come as a nice surprise to Birmingham fans that he is trying to sign someone, but having made just three appearances this term – they may not be happy with Morosini.
The Italian looked likely to have a promising career ahead of him when he first broke on to the scene, but he has since dropped out of contention.
The Blues have just over two weeks to sign new players and that will go quickly…
