An offer of £500,000 has allegedly been accepted for Plymouth Argyle striker Freddie Ladapo.

Plymouth Live understands that Rotherham United are targeting the striker who scored 18 goals for Argyle last year in League One.

The 26-year-old has attracted interest from some of League One's biggest clubs, including Sunderland, Portsmouth and, of course, Rotherham.

A bid from Rotherham has allegedly been accepted as per the report, however, Sunderland remain in the race. Portsmouth, on the other hand, have reportedly dropped out, after they announced the signing of striker Ellis Harrison from Ipswich last Friday.

Ladapo only has 12 months remaining on his current deal, which he penned last summer.

The Verdict

For £500,000, I think Ladapo is a good signing for a high-end League One side.

The ex-Crystal Palace striker was the sixth top scorer in the division and with only a year remaining on his current deal, it would be silly for one of them to not snap him up.

When you consider that Will Grigg cost £4million, Ladapo for an eighth of the price seems a good deal.

Not only does he have good finishing ability, but his physical attributes are what set him aside in this league, he's very quick and strong and can get in behind defences if provided with the right quality.

Even though he has only had one good season, to score 18 goals in a team which gets relegated is not easy and is a stat which makes his signature well worth a punt.
