Micky Adams is set to be appointed the new manager of Tranmere Rovers.

Rovers were relegated last season and currently sit bottom of League Two with just two wins from 12 matches.

Tranmere chairman Mark Palios has moved quickly and has held talks with Adams over the vacant position.

52-year-old Adams left Port Vale in September after a disappointing start to the season ending a five year association with Vale that spanned across two spells.

Edwards was given the job at the end of May but was shown the door after a defeat at home to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, which was their seventh game without a win and their fourth loss in a row at Prenton Park.
