Tranmere Rovers have announced that Scott Davies has agreed a new deal to extend his stay at Prenton Park.
Tranmere’s captain has been a fantastic servant to the League One club, and will be hoping that he can continue to build on some impressive showings in recent seasons.
Davies has made 2-1 appearances so far for the Whites, and will be keen to add to that impressive tally as his career progresses.
He played an integral role in their promotion to League One last season, as they beat Newport County in the League Two play-off final at Wembley.
The 32-year-old pulled off a number of saves in that final, as Tranmere won promotion, despite having to play 89 minutes with ten men after having a man sent-off early into the game.
Tranmere are currently sat 20th in the League One table, and are just three points above the relegation zone after eleven league games.
But their defensive issues will be a concern at the moment, with Tranmere conceding 21 goals so far in this year’s league campaign, with only Bolton (25), Southend (28) and AFC Wimbledon (23) conceding more so far this season.
Davies will be hoping that he can keep a much-needed clean sheet when Tranmere are next in action on Saturday, when they take on Coventry City, in what is certain to be a tricky test for Micky Mellon’s men.
This is excellent news for Tranmere.
Davies has been brilliant for them in recent years, and he’s fully deserved a new contract with ()’s side as they look to establish themselves in League One this season.
Without him, they wouldn’t be in the third tier, after he almost single-handedly won them the play-off final against Newport County last season.
