Derby County look set to make their first signing under the management of Phillip Cocu, with Kieran Dowell set to arrive from Everton on a season-long loan deal.

The Rams will be on the lookout for a Mason Mount replacement, with the Chelsea playmaker returning to Stamford Bridge after a hugely impressive loan spell last season.

And the East Midlands side look to have found their man, with Dowell undergoing a medical over in Florida on Wednesday night as per reports from Daily Telegraph writer John Percy.

The 21-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with Sheffield United, and scored twice in 17 appearances as the Blades won automatic promotion to the Premier League.

He also enjoyed another impressive loan spell away from Goodison Park the season before, scoring 10 goals in 43 games for the Rams' arch rivals Nottingham Forest, so this is a move that is likely to raise eyebrows amongst the City Ground faithful.

Dowell was one of Forest's most important players under both Mark Warburton and Aitor Karanka a couple of years ago, but he is now set to cross the divide and sign for the Rams.
