Nottingham Forest could not follow up their cup exploits against Arsnenal in midweek and fell to a defeat against high flying Aston Villa at the City Ground this evening.

The Reds were made to pay for a poor performance overall and it was Villa striker Scott Hogan who got the winning goal, nodding home in the first half to give Steve Bruce's men the lead they needed to hang on and take a valuable three points.

It was manager Aitor Karanka's first game in charge of his Forest side and he will have been disappointed with some of what he saw, although the Spaniard will no doubt be keen to draw some of the positives from the game and take them forward with him into the coming weeks.

Following the game and as is becoming the norm this season in the Midlands, plenty of Forest fans took to Twitter to give their thoughts on the performance and result against Villa, and a lot of the comments do not make pretty reading for the men in charge at Forest.
